Do you want to know more about how to support a child who uses AAC?
TechTalkers® builds your skills and confidence using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) so you can support your child to achieve his/her/their communication potential. The program is informative, interactive, practical and a chance to meet others who support children who use AAC, and will be presented online to make participation as easy as possible.
- Who is it for?
Parents and carers whose child already uses AAC and who want to learn how to better support their child
Other people in the child’s life who use AAC with the child (eg other family members, support workers, teaching teams)
What type of AAC system do you need to be using?
It doesn’t matter which one! The information is useful for all AAC systems.
If you are already working with another speech pathologist you can still participate in the program. We can work with your therapist and provide them with assessment information.
- What’s the time commitment?
A pre-assessment with you, the child you support and our speech pathologists (either face to face or online)
9 hours of online training as part of a group with other communication partners
A catch up during the school holidays with all participants (optional)
How is it funded?
The program is able to be purchased through your child’s NDIS capacity building funding.
